Since May last year BPBK has conducted work on the construction of bicycle routes in the Kaszuby region as part of developing the tourist offer of the region of the Poviat of Chojnice, the self-government authorities have decided to build separated bicycle paths covering the following municipalities: Chojnice; Czersk and Konarzyny. Bicycle paths are meant to improve the safety of bicycle tourist traffic.
The design gives a location-and-level solution of bicycle routes in the municipality of Chojnice. Moreover, it gives the construction of the pavement, the drainage manner and other technical solutions for the above task.
The investment is located in the municipality of Chojnice between the localities of Chociński Młyn and Drzewicz on the south side of voivodeship road No. 236 between Brusy and Konarzyny. The presumed run of the bicycle path is the road strip of the voivodeship road and forest tracks constituting fire protection strips running along public roads. The location of the planned investment is in accordance with studies and directions of the spatial development of municipalities, in the area of which investments will be located and with the Regional Operational Programme of Pomorskie Voivodeship for the years 2007-2013.
The design of bicycle routes and tourist infrastructure runs partly through the areas under the European Ecological Network Natura 2000, yet its implementation will not have impact in habitats and birds areas.
In accordance with the earlier conceptual design elaborated for the purposes of the design the scope of the investment covers, apart from the construction of bicycle routes, the construction of wooden footbridges, rest and information points, and with regard to tourism marking of all designed and existing routes by directional signs and information boards.
The construction and reconstruction of the existing bicycle routes will cover a length of about 59 km. The setting of tourist and bicycle routes runs through about 72 km of routes mostly on forest areas.
The proposed system of routes will be designed as clearly separated roads for bicycles, paths constituting an element of the road strip, traffic lanes for bicycles set on the roadway as well as marked routes running on public roads, and forest bicycle routes.
