Targ Rybny as the fastest renewing area of Gdańsk changes right in front of our eyes. Until recently it used to be a derelict part of the city. At present this area boasts condominiums and a hotel of a renowned international brand. The aim of the design for Targ Rybny reconstruction is to achieve high quality public space, which will fulfil diverse tasks.
The aim of the study is to renew the historic area of the Main City and to upgrade the technical condition of road pavements and underground infrastructure of Targ Rybny Street and the adjacent streets in Gdańsk.
The scope has been divided into two tasks:
1. Task I – reconstruction of the following streets: Targ Rybny, Podwale Staromiejskie, section of Grodzka Street from Targ to Sukiennicza Street, Tobiasza Street, Szpitalna Streetl;
2. Task II – reconstruction of the following streets: Grodzka Street from Sukiennicza Street to Rycerska Street, Wapiennicza Street from Rycerska Street to the bridge on Motława river, link between Grodzka Street and the quay.
The area covered in the study is about 1,2 hectares. The area has been entered in the register of historic buildings and is subject to the conservation office’s protection.
