The public space in the area of the Aleja Marszałka J. Piłsudskiego and Dąbrowszczaków street intersection originally (end of the 19th century) had the function of neo-Gothic court building premises. In the second half of the 20th century the square was transformed considerably. Owing to changes to the transport system, it was reduced and transformed, but still its task was to show off the historical court building.
The conceptual design assumes ordering up the space of the square and a clear division into two parts.
The northern part – the representative zone belongs to the court building as premises of the historical court building. The southern part of the square – the city zone has a recreational function.
An integral element of the city zone is the elliptical water reservoir being the premises for the designed Home Army Monument and the main centre point of the whole layout.
